Wanted: Election coverage ideas
Here’s a chance for student editors to contribute to an upcoming article in College Media Review, the journal for media advisers. The managing editor, Debra Chandler Landis of University of Illinois Springfield, posted a request on the College Media Association listserv, which I’m passing along with her permission.
The College Media Review is planning a story for mid to late September as to how budget-conscious college media could cover the presidential race, including election night, with vigor, accuracy and relevance to their readers, viewers and/or listeners—without benefit of the kind of money and transportation provided members of the national press corps or large media outlets in your respective states.
I’d like to hear some of the innovative ways the media you advise—print, broadcast and web-based–have covered presidential races in the past and what you’re hearing might be on tap for fall. In addition, I’d be interested to hear from you questions college media in your particular state should consider asking the presidential candidates and why.
If you have ideas, email her at dland2@uis.edu.
